Dynamite airs tonight (Sept. 10) with a live show from 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is the third episode of Dynamite during the four week build to All Out, which takes place on September 20.
Tony Khan tries to follow up one perfect wrestling show with another in AEW
During an interview this week on The Battleground Podcast, AEW President Tony Khan said he thought Saturday’s episode of Collision in the 2300 Arena was a “really perfect wrestling show from top to bottom.”
With that in mind, AEW’s residency at the venue ends this week, so let’s see what matches
are being promoted on Dynamite for the follow-up to Saturday’s perfect wrestling show:
- AEW World Champion Hangman Page vs. Josh Alexander in a grudge match
- AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm vs. Skye Blue in a Philly Street Fight
- TBS Champion Mercedes Mone & Emi Sakura vs. Riho & Alex Windsor
- Shelton Benjamin vs. Ricochet
These four matches are all tied into AEW’s plans for All Out, but I don’t think any championships are on the line tonight.
In the case of the grudge match, Hangman is looking to pay back the Callis family after their heinous attack on Kenny Omega that sent him to the hospital last week. The Young Bucks are allied with the Callis family, so the numbers game is really working against Page here as Kyle Fletcher looms as his likely world title challenger at All Out.
No woman in AEW has what it takes to beat Toni Storm, so now she’s booked in a random 4-way title defense at All Out against Thekla, Jamie Hayter, and Kris Statlander. Storm’s aggression led her to call out any member of the Triangle of Madness for tonight’s street fight, and Skye Blue answered the challenge. The timeless one has a perfect 6-0 career record against Blue, who hasn’t won a singles match since July 2024. Is there any reason to expect these patterns will change tonight?
Riho returned to AEW last week to save Alex Windsor from a post-match attack by the CEO, so now Riho and Mone will fight over the TBS title at All Out. Before we get there, though, Mercedes called in Riho’s trainer Emi Sakura to join her for this tag match tonight. Is Sakura primarily here to take the fall, or will Riho make an even bigger statement by pinning the champ tonight?
MVP is getting ready to return to the ring for The Hurt Syndicate’s trios match at All Out against Ricochet and GOA, who recently screwed Bob Lashley and Shelton Benjamin out of the AEW world tag team titles. Both sides are looking to gain some momentum with tonight’s singles match between Ricochet and Benjamin, and I’m sure they are also both looking to injure someone as well. Ricochet ranks higher up in the AEW pecking order than Shelton, but is he on the list of wrestlers who The Hurt Syndicate is willing to do the job for?
Do these four matches put together form a worthy successor to AEW’s so-called perfect wrestling show from last Saturday? The only way to find out for sure is to tune into Dynamite tonight.
Other stuff to keep an eye
– Jon Moxley wants to bury Darby Allin in the ground in a Coffin match at All Out. By the way, does anybody know if Gabe Kidd is alive after Darby dragged him through the streets in a body bag last week?
– MJF said Mark Briscoe can name the stipulation for their match at All Out. Will Mark announce the stipulation tonight, or does he need more time to find one that ensures maximum pain and blood loss for Max?
– FTR is threatening to end the careers of Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at All Out in their hometown of Toronto. Will Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler show just how dangerous they are by breaking someone’s neck with a spike piledriver before then? Do Cope and Cage have any plans to up the ante or stakes for the PPV match?
– HOOK isn’t happy that Samoa Joe replaced him in The Opps before his body got cold. It seems that HOOK plans to fight his battles solo again, but Joe said The Opps will have his back when he needs their help. If that’s the case, why didn’t Joe and The Opps help HOOK pick better new entrance music?
– The Death Riders have been trying to recruit Kris Statlander and Daniel Garcia. It’s a slow process but could pay off soon, with Statlander using Wheeler Yuta’s seatbelt pin to win on Collision, and Garcia expressing frustration with all of his recent losses. Will either star show more direct interest tonight in potentially joining the Death Riders?
– El Clon is coming to AEW soon to fuck with Hologram and probably try to ruin his undefeated record. Will the clone let us know his exact arrival date, or will it be a surprise?
– Which heels will be next to come after Brodido after they retained the AEW world tag team championship against the Death Riders last week?
– Wardlow returned to AEW at Forbidden Door, but he may have suffered a bad injury at the same time. Will Don Callis explain why his newest family member already vanished?
– Big Bill wants to pick a fight with Eddie Kingston. Will Eddie return to AEW in time for a match with Bill at All Out, or does that make more sense for another perfect episode of Collision?
– Jerry Lynn tried to speak some sense into Anthony Bowens and advised him to take a long, hard look in the mirror. Will Bowens respond by attacking the former ECW star in the former ECW Arena?
– Where the f*** is Chris Jericho?
What will you be looking for on Dynamite?
