Call them the Cardiac Cats, indeed! Kentucky Football upset the No. 10 LSU Tigers Saturday night with a dramatic 35-34 overtime win. It’s the second straight overtime win for the Wildcats, and they made some history in the process.
Same score, same situation, same result. According to ESPN, Kentucky is the first team since overtime was instituted in 1996 to win back-to-back games in overtime by one point.
Against LSU, it was quarterback Kenny Minchey running it in from three yards out on the 2-point
try to send Kroger Field into a frenzy.
Will Stein has some serious guts to go for 2 in overtime in back-to-back weeks, and this is why Big Blue Nation is completely buying into him. He’s aggressive, and the last two wins are giving fans belief that the Wildcats are going places where they’ve never been before as a football program.
The Wildcats now have not only back-to-back one-point overtime wins but two wins over AP Top 10 teams. There is no doubt the Cats will be ranked in next week’s AP Top-25 Poll.
