So, the American League Championship Series is now effectively a wild-card, best of three – albeit with the lower seed getting to play the first game at home. The Rays have recaptured home advantage, but will be keen to go back to Tampa with a victory here. For whoever loses will need to win two straight to avoid elimination, and this series so far has strictly alternated the victorious side. The Guardians have outhit the Rays by 88 points of OPS, but this hasn’t translated into runs, where Tampa leads
by the odd tally in 29. It’s mostly because, across games 2-4, Cleveland has a total of just three hits with RISP; Tampa had four, just in yesterday’s game.
The rainout Friday means there’ll be no rest day for these teams, with Game 6 in Florida tomorrow night. Somebody will be on the verge of the World Series. But will it be the Guardians or Rays?
- Tampa Bay Rays @ Cleveland Guardians (2-2), 5:00 pm, TBS
