Here’s a look at Wednesday’s practice report

Nick Martin still has symptoms and is still in the concussion protocol.
Limited: FB Kyle Juszczyk (ribs)
Juszczyk’s ability to do something in practice is a good sign.
The 49ers will officially open edge rusher Yetur Gross-Matos’s practice window on Thursday, per Kyle Shanahan. The team didn’t open Gross-Matos’s window on Wednesday because the offseason plan they had put together:
“Just how our whole offseason went with him, and our plan this year. We don’t ever practice him two days in a row on Wednesday and Thursday. So he only practices on Thursdays, regardless, even before he got hurt. So we’re not going to open it till that day.”
The surprise news was regarding linebacker Eric Kendricks, who isn’t practicing:
“We’ll get Eric going. He’s got a tight calf today, so I don’t know how much we’ll see of him today — if he’s going to go. But he’s working back in here. Hopefully, it’s not too bad of a setback with that.”
It shouldn’t be a surprise that a player who has practiced only a few times this season is experiencing tightness as he works himself into playing shape. We’ll see if it’s an injury that keeps Kendricks sidelined. Shanahan was asked how Kendricks looks emotionally:
I think he’s been awesome. I feel like I know him, just because I’ve gone against him so many times. I don’t know him. But just seeing him out on the field, it’s eerie watching him on scout team all last week, just from our end zone copy. I feel like I’m having post-traumatic stress from seeing him as a linebacker all the time going against him.
He looks like Eric. Acts like how I always heard he is. You can tell he loves football. Hopefully, he can get his body right and get out there.
As the week progresses, keep an eye on whether Kendricks goes from a “DNP” to “Limited.” If he can’t play, Curtis Robinson will likely resume the duties at MIKE linebacker.
