The Dallas Cowboys front office has done something right, at least that is what many Cowboys fans are saying. What is this new move that has been met with approval? No, it’s not reaching a deal with George
Pickens which would be a very popular move among the fanbase.
It’s the hire of defensive coordinator Christian Parker. The Cowboys broke with some recent traditions with this hire. They used to hire defensive coordinators who had previous head coaching experience. They also tended to hire people who had some kind of connection to the organization or current head coach.
Once they had done that, it always felt like Jerry Jones had a heavy hand in assembling the staff. This time it feels like the organization is giving deference to Parker in assembling his staff. It all feels… fresh. New and different for the Cowboys.
And based on what fans are saying, they are glad to see this new direction. It probably also helps that Parker comes from the Vic Fangio school of defense, a style that is very popular among NFL teams currently. It also helps that Fangio and his acolytes have bedeviled the Cowboys offense in recent years. If you can’t beat them, join them.
In a stunning success story for the front office, over half (56%) of fans graded the hire an ‘A’. Another 35% gave it a ‘B’. Combined that is 91%! Wow, big numbers for an oft-maligned front office.
So what is your number one reason to grade the hire this high?
