Reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen was held without a passing or rushing touchdown and might have suffered a broken nose during Sunday’s Buffalo Bills road clash with the New York Jets. But in the end, it was the Jets (0-2) who were pushed around and bullied by the Bills (2-0) as Buffalo’s defense bounced back in a big way to fuel a 30-10 win over the Jets at the Meadowlands.
It’s the fifth time in the last seven seasons Buffalo has started a season 2-0 under head coach Sean McDermott, and today’s edition
of Buffalo Rumblinks offers up observations and analysis from Buffalo’s second straight win to open the 2025 NFL season.

Observations and analysis from Bills’ win
Sunday’s win over the Jets was just the second game of Allen’s career where he led the team to victory on a day where he failed to score a touchdown. The defense carried the day in giving Buffalo its first divisional win of the season.
Consider this: after Allen departed late in the first quarter with a possible broken nose, backup Mitch Trubisky came on and hit Joshua Palmer for a 32-yard strike on the ensuing play that helped set up a Matt Prater field goal for a 13-0 Bills lead. The 32 passing yards on that one play were more than Justin Fields (3-of-11 for 27 yards) managed all game versus Buffalo’s defense.
Among some of the key highlights and observations from the Week 2 win: Edge rusher Joey Bosa had himself a day, recording his first sack in a Bills uniform and forcing a pair of fumbles and finishing with four quarterback pressures on 24 snaps; running back James Cook galloped for 132 yards on the ground, including a highlight reel 44-yard touchdown run in the second quarter; cornerback Tre’Davious White looked really good in his first action back with Buffalo; and Buffalo reestablished its dominant defense, forcing the Jets to go o-for-11 on third down (just the second time in franchise history an opponent failed to convert a single third down) while holding New York to just 54 passing yards and 11 total first downs on the day. Take a bow, head coach Sean McDermott and defensive coordinator Bobby Babich.
