Barcelona boss Hansi Flick admitted that Lamine Yamal was a little upset and angry at the end of Saturday’s crucial La Liga win over Atletico
.“Lamine Yamal tried everything: he dribbled, he attacked, but he didn’t score,” he said after the final whistle.
“He was a bit upset because it was a match with a lot of emotions, but it’s normal. Now he’s back in the locker room and he’s doing fine.”
TV footage also showed a frustrated Yamal not really wanting to talk to Flick as he walked off the pitch after
the match.
We don’t know exactly why Yamal was so upset but there are some theories doing the rounds. Mundo Deportivo says “dressing room sources” claim Yamal had been “overwhelmed by the information and instructions” from goalkeeping coach José Ramón de la Fuente.
The teenager was spotted gesturing towards the coach, who also handles set pieces and strategy, and talking to him as he left the pitch.
That may not be the only reason for Yamal’s anger either. Footage on social media appears to show insults being hurled at Yamal throughout the game from some of the crowd.
Yamal may have been angry but he still put in another hugely influential showing, finishing the game as the Barca player with the most shots (5), cchances created (5), completed dribbles (7) and attempted crosses (5).
