It’s Sunday once more, and you know what that means — it’s time for our weekly social media roundup! Players’ Weekend, a big win streak, and good vibes fill out most of this week’s social media roundup, but we start with a bit of sad news, as we reflect on the passing of the legendary Tommy John. With so much in store, let’s get started.
Remembering Tommy John
Last Sunday, the news dropped that Tommy John, the former Yankees pitcher who was the first to undergo the surgery named after him, had passed away, just a week after he had bid
goodbye to the baseball community through a statement published by the New York Yankees. The organization, the league, and many of John’s teammates took to social media to offer their condolences to his family and reflect on his legacy.
Players’ Weekend
This past weekend was Players’ Weekend, the one time during the year where the league relaxes uniform and gear rules and lets players wear, well, pretty much anything. This year, we had the youngsters take center stage, as George Lombard Jr. wore a belt with Spencer Jones’ face, Jones wear a belt with Ben Rice’s face, and Cam Schlittler wear Star Wars cleats.

Meredith Marakovits and Suzyn Waldman took advantage of having some time off to get in some sightseeing in Baltimore.

Miscellaneous
Willie Randolph made some homemade pizza with the family this week, CC Sabathia went golfing (when does he not go golfing?), and Max Schuemann…got married? Honestly, I’m not totally sure, although I appreciate the pun.
Jon Berti, meanwhile, announced his retirement, and Bradley Hanner celebrated his debut.
Ryan Weathers and Ali Sanchez dropped a couple of photo dumps from the summer.
Questions of the Day
The YES Network and the Yankees have been putting out a lot of Questions of the Day lately — perhaps trying to get them all done by the end of the season (some of them, clearly, were shot during spring training).
And, to wrap it up, the YES Network got in on an Instagram/Tik Tok trend and used it to highlight their drone footage.
