Real Madrid attackers Franco Mastantuono and Kylian Mbappé suffered minor injuries during the team’s convincing 3-1 win over Villarreal on Saturday. Mbappé picked up a mild ankle sprain while scoring the third
goal, while Mastantuono felt discomfort in his hamstring, according to coach Xabi Alonso during the post-match press conference.
Both players were initially expected to feature for France and Argentina during the upcoming FIFA break, but they could ultimately remain at Valdebebas if their injuries prove serious enough. Real Madrid have not published a medical report just yet.
Meanwhile, reports in the Spanish press suggest that both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal are pushing to be ready to face FC Barcelona in the decisive Clásico on October 26. Still, it remains unclear if either defender will return in time, and without the chance to regain rhythm and confidence in earlier matches, starting them in such a decisive game like El Clásico could be premature.
