A quick recap of the Cleveland Browns Week 5 experience is anything but a positive one. In the rain, the Browns lost to the New York Jets 17-12. WR KC Concepcion was knocked out of the game early due to a hit by Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. While fans thought it was a dirty play, Cleveland HC Todd Monken called it a “bang-bang play” after the contest.
OT Tytus Howard was hurt, tried to tough it out, then gave OT Dawand Jones a chance to prove he was not an upgrade, which was one of our 20 (mostly
negative) takeaways from the contest. A few Brownies (winners) and a lot of Frownies (losers) from the Week 5 contest, which only seemingly got worse after the game due to injuries.
Cleveland went into Week 5 having ruled out seven for the game due to injuries:
- DT Kalia Davis – Quad – Out
- QB Dillon Gabriel – Back – Out
- DT Mason Graham – Knee, Ankle – Out
- DT Mike Hall Jr. – Ankle – Out
- OL Teven Jenkins – Back – Out
- TE Carsen Ryan – Calf – Out
- WR Tylan Wallace – Knee – Out
Concepcion and Howard did not finish the game due to injuries; then RB Quinshon Judkins was seen departing the locker room in a walking boot:
Shortly after that, LB Carson Schwesinger was seen in a boot:
How many right foot/leg walking boots did Cleveland bring with them to New York? Judkins was seen limping late in the 4th quarter, while Schwesinger went into the blue tent during the game, only to return and force a fumble on a blitz.
In a bit of positive news, Concepcion posted on social media that he is doing okay:
With the Baltimore Ravens next up on the schedule, the Browns injury list will be vital to follow heading into Week 6. Adding any of Concepcion, Judkins, Schwesinger, or Howard to a list that already includes Graham and Hall could be very problematic for Cleveland’s chances in next week’s AFC North matchup.
How concerned are you about the injuries piling up for the Browns?
