As Bayern Munich continues to build under Vincent Kompany, questions have naturally shifted beyond the players on the pitch and toward the executives responsible for constructing the squad. Board member for sport Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund have both faced scrutiny at various points over the last year, leading to speculation about their long-term futures and whether new contracts are on the horizon.
Chief executive officer Jan-Christian Dreesen, however, made it clear that Bayern
Munich is not getting caught up in the outside noise.
“I can say that the two of them are working together very well. The rest is just reporting. There’s nothing more to add. What matters is how we work together at Säbener Straße, and that’s excellent. That’s what counts, you can see it on the pitch and off it,” Dreesen told Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
Those comments send a strong message that Bayern Munich’s leadership remains united behind the current sporting structure. While transfer windows inevitably bring criticism whenever a target is missed or negotiations drag on, Dreesen’s remarks suggest the club is evaluating Eberl and Freund based on their day-to-day work rather than media speculation.
There is also evidence to support Dreesen’s confidence. Bayern Munich has assembled one of Europe’s strongest squads, remained competitive on multiple fronts, and continued integrating young talent while balancing the expectations that come with competing for every major trophy. That type of progress requires alignment between the coaching staff, recruitment department, and executive leadership.
Contract talks may eventually come, but Dreesen’s comments indicate they are not the priority at the moment. Instead, Bayern Munich appears focused on maintaining stability behind the scenes while allowing Eberl and Freund to continue executing their long-term vision.
In a club where rumors often dominate the headlines, Dreesen’s statement serves as a reminder that the people making the decisions are far more concerned with what happens inside Säbener Straße than with what is being written outside of it.
