You see that picture above? Of course you do! Notice how Juventus striker Randal Kolo Muani has a couple of his fingers taped together? It wasn’t always like that as Juve took on Atalanta on Sunday evening in the final game before the first international break of the 2026-27 season arrived.
Kolo Muani had to have a couple of fingers strapped together with athletic tap to get through the second half of the win over La Dea came with good reason. And we found that out Monday.
Juve announced on Monday
that Kolo Muani has undergone surgery after breaking a bone in the pinky finger of his right hand. The surgery, done at J Medical, was deemed successful and, more importantly, the French striker will not have to miss any time as a result of the procedure.
Juventus’ short update on Kolo Muani and his quick trip under the knife is as follows:
During the first half of Sunday’s match against Atalanta, Randal Kolo Muani sustained an injury to the fifth finger of his right hand. Tests carried out after the match revealed a fracture of the proximal phalanx, making osteosynthesis surgery necessary.
The operation, performed this afternoon by Dr Loris Pegoli at J|medical, was completely successful and the player will remain available for selection.
For all the bad luck with injuries Juventus have had so far this season, this feels like a pretty easy bullet to have dodged. There’s a three-week international break, and it sounds like Kolo Muani will be back training whenever Luciano Spalletti reconvenes those who aren’t out on international duty during this extended September/October break.
Kolo Muani is coming off his best game since coming back to Juventus this summer in the win over Atalanta — a lot of it done with a broken finger and any pain that came with it. He got on the scoresheet for the first time in last Thursday’s Europa League opener as well. Hopefully this is the start of Spalletti seeing the Kolo Muani he hoped Juve were signing this summer rather than the one who struggled for much of his first couple of starts this season.
