Twice in the last three years, the streak appeared to be in jeopardy. Last season, it wasn’t even close. Today, K-State will try and extend their winning streak over Kansas to “voting age”.
So naturally, we’re all pretty nervous.
The Game
The Kansas State Wildcats
(3-2, 0-2 Big 12) host the Kansas Jayhawks (2-3, 0-2 Big 12).Kansas leads the all-time series 64-54-5, although officially it’s 63-55-5 because of cheating. Kansas has decided that the Big 8 ruling declaring their 1980 win a forfeit doesn’t matter
anymore since there’s no Big 8 anymore. Go figure.
But it’s been 17 in a row for the Cats since a three-game KU winning streak in the late 00s. Obviously there’s a lot at stake today, not least the opportunity to avoid an 0-3 start in conference play. It’s a big game.
Kansas hasn’t really been competitive against opponents with pulses, but K-State hasn’t really either so there’s another reason for trepidation.
Kickoff
Saturday, October 17, 11:00am CT at Bill Snyder Family Stadium (50,000) in Manhattan, Kansas.
Tickets
The game is officially a sellout, with standing-room only tickets avaliable from the ticket office. Via third-party outlets, you’re not getting in the door for under $78 at this writing, and the median price is $122.
Weather
The good news: the sun will be out, and game-time temps will start in the low 50s anr rise to nearly 60 by game’s end. The bad news? It’ll probably be under 40° when you start your tailgate. Bundle up.
Odds
Per our friends at DraftKings K-State is a 3.5-point favorite with a 55.5 over. That should translate to a 30-26 K-State win. The money line is -175 for the Cats, +145 for the Jayhawks.
Television
FS1 with Eric Collins and Spencer Tillman.
Radio
As always, Wyatt Thompson, Stan Weber, and Matt Walters will be on hand on the K-State Sports Network as well as via satellite on SiriusXM 173 or 237.
