The 2025 Orioles season has been a disappointment that could hardly end soon enough ever since the starting rotation completely misfired in April. Good news for everyone who is tired of these guys: It’s officially not too early to start thinking about the 2026 season. MLB released the 2026 schedules on Tuesday afternoon, including for the Orioles, so we can already circle Opening Day 2026: The Orioles will be at home against the Twins on March 26, 2026.
On the other end of the regular season, the Orioles
will close things out against the Yankees on September 27. In between those two days will determine whether things have gotten better around here or if it’s just going to be another year of disappointment.
The 2026 Orioles will be tested within the first month or so of the season to see if they can break out of one of their key 2025 failures: Doing inexplicably badly against teams in the Central division in both leagues. By the end of April, the Orioles will have played series against the Twins, Pirates, White Sox, Guardians, and Royals. Except for that season-opening series against the Twins, the rest of these April games against Central teams will be on the road.
We can all start preparing ourselves now for some late nights in June 2026, with a three-team west coast road trip that will see the Orioles play the Mariners, Dodgers, and Angels from June 16-24. This is one of three different road trips through three stadiums on the season. The Orioles will run through two of these in August, going from Texas to Minnesota to Tampa Bay from August 7-17, and then from St. Louis to Sacramento to Colorado from August 25-September 2.
The full schedule of games, with all times still to be determined, can be found on the Orioles website.
From the reading the tea leaves department, The Baltimore Banner’s Andy Kostka noticed this coincidence:
Are these early, unofficial signs that the ornithologically correct bird is going to be making a comeback next season? We’ll find out that for real much closer to the season. And in the meantime, there are still (sigh) 31 games left to play in the 2025 season.
