The annual tradition continues.
Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles lost another commitment from their 2026 recruiting class today, as legacy prospect Jay Timmons decided Ohio State would be a better
fit for his future. Many, myself included, considered Timmons to be the best player in the class. Others may say DB Chauncey Kennon or DL Earnest Rankins, but one thing is for sure- Timmons is a loss that won’t be easily replaced.
Losing a top commit hurts. Losing a top commit that you’d managed to flip from another school, particularly one having as much success as Indiana this season, hurts more. But when that prospect is also a legacy, it’s damn near inexcusable.
Luke Altmyer. Tyler Hunter. Nyjalik Kelly. CJ Baxter. Kedric Faulk. KJ Bolden. Armondo Blount. Solomon Thomas. Javion Hilson.
Mike Norvell and his staff continue to get punked every year by stronger recruiters. It’s become tradition for Seminole fans to bid goodbye to the top committed prospects in every class under Norvell. Money, fit, perception, miscommunication, lack of killer instinct. The reasons are as variable as the fall foliage, but does it really matter in the end? At this point, it feels like it rivals Augusta National as a tradition unlike any other.
But at least this didn’t happen during the early signing period, right? Silver lining, right?
Right?
