Tonight, we see both the ALCS and NLCS in action.
On the ALCS side, the Mariners and Blue Jays hook up for Game 5 in a series tied 2-2. The Mariners started off hot, winning the first two games on the road, but then the Blue Jays offense came alive and pounded the Mariners for two games in Seattle to tie it up. With the final Seattle game tonight before traveling back to Toronto, the Mariners could really use a home win to have two chances at the series on the road.
The Mariners will send Bryce Miller
to the mound to start. Miller had a rough season, with most of his run prevention numbers in the 5s, but his last time out was a solid six innings of one-run ball against the Jays. The Blue Jays will start Kevin Gausman, who turned in yet another solid campaign in 2025. Gausman has allowed only three runs in 11.1 innings of postseason work. He started opposite Bryce Miller earlier in the series in that 3-1 loss.
ALCS Game 5 will start at 5:08pm US Central and be televised on FS1.
On the NLCS side, the Brewers are facing elimination at the hands of the Dodgers. It’s been a pretty easy ride for the Dodgers, who have lost only one postseason game so far. They’ve allowed only three runs to the Brewers in the whole NLCS.
To try to stave off elimination, the Brewers will start Jose Quintana (really?). His 2025 ERA was just under 4, but only just. Last time out, he threw three scoreless innings against the Cubs in relief. I imagine he’s going to have a quick hook as the Brewers will need to pull out all the stops to try to win.
The Dodgers will start some guy named Shohei Ohtani. He has made one postseason start, against the Phillies. He threw six innings of three-run ball. While his workload as a pitcher started out limited, he’s been steadily ramping up over time. At this point, he’s mowing down opposing hitters. In the regular season, half of his 14 outings were scoreless. Four more outings saw only one run. With the Dodgers bullpen struggling, Ohtani will probably get a long leash.
NLCS Game 4 will start at 7:38pm US Central and be televised on TBS (and HBO Max apparently).
