The Chargers did not want to bank on the waiver wire to land some much-needed depth along the offensive line.
Per The Insiders, the Bolts are sending a conditional seventh-round pick in 2027 to the Texans in exchange for offensive tackle Austin Deculus. Deculus is a former sixth-round pick in 2022 who has spent time with the Texans, Jets, and Saints in his young career.
Per Pro Football Focus, Deculus
has played 152 snaps at left tackle this preseason. He also has snaps at right tackle in the NFL which is also where he starred for the LSU Tigers in college, including in 2019 en route to winning the national championship alongside Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase.
At this point in his career, Deculus has seen snaps in 13 total contests while earning one start to his name. He’ll compete for the team’s swing tackle job with versatile offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer.
