Rutgers basketball has landed its first commit of the 2026 recruitment class in three star guard Imahri Wooten. His three-star rating is not unanimous, as he is rated a three-star by Rivals and 247, but is a four-star according to ESPN.
Wooten took an official visit to Piscataway on September 12th and ultimately decided to commit to the school two weeks later. He chose the Scarlet Knights over Arizona State, Auburn, Missouri, Mississippi, Penn State, Seton Hall, and St. John’s, among many others.
The six-foot-four, 180-pound guard hails from Troy, New York, but has attended high school all around the US. He played the 2023 season at Compass Prep in Arizona, the 2024 season at Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut, before returning home to play the 2025 season at Redemption Christian Academy. He also plays on an AAU Team in the Nike EYBL Circuit.
During his playing time for the AAU’s City Rocks team this summer, Wooten averaged 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
Wooten has a lot of connections to the world of college basketball, as his mother, Michelle Massey-Wooten, and his aunt, Malani Massey, both played college basketball for Syracuse. His uncle, Kevin Simmons, played college basketball for UNLV.
