The Michigan Wolverines (13-3) are off to their best start since the 2007-08 season and are now the No. 1 ranked team in college hockey. Fresh off a dominant sweep over Ohio State, the Wolverines moved
up one spot to become the new No. 1 for the first time since Nov. 2022.
Former top team, Michigan State (9-3), fell to No. 3 after being on the wrong side of a sweep at the hands of Wisconsin (10-2-2). Speaking of, the Badgers jumped up five spots from No. 7 to No. 2 to give the Big Ten a clean sweep of the top three. Penn State (11-5) was the only other Big Ten team ranked at No. 9.
Next up, the Wolverines head east to face Harvard, which is the first team outside of the Top-20 ranked by the USHCO, and the Spartans will face lowly Colgate at Munn. The following weekend, the rivals will clash for a home-and-home series that should determine who the No. 1 team in the country is before the winter break.
