Was there ever any doubt? Temwa Chawinga has won the NWSL Golden Boot, again. After taking the league by storm in 2024 with 21 goals and five assists, she has followed it up 15 goals and three assists.
The only other player to win the award multiple times? Sam Kerr from 2017-2019. The Malawi native is in elite company.
The Kansas City Current superstar is also the favorite to repeat as NWSL MVP.
She is currently recovering from an adductor injury with her status for the 2025 NWSL playoffs still uncertain. However, there is has been an update provided by the team.
According to the KC Soccer Journal, head coach Vlatko Andonovski provided an update.
“Temwa is still not good and we’re not going to take any risks at this point. We’ll see how she progresses.”
“There’s a chance,” continued Andonovski. “She’s day-to-day. And we just know she’s not going to be able to play on Sunday. And we’ll see how it goes from there.”
The 2025 NWSL Shield winners take on No. 8 seed, NJ/NY Gotham FC this Sunday, November 9 at 12:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
