The Eagles had another ugly loss this week, although this time the collapse happened across the ocean in London. The list of injuries heading into the international matchup against the Jaguars was already incredible, but the number of players sidelined during the game, was staggering.
Heading into the Week 5 matchup, the Eagles had six players inactive due to injury:
- DeVonta Smith (hamstring)
- Saquon Barkley (Week-to-week hamstring injury)
- Hollywood Brown (ankle)
- Drew Kendall (knee)
- Marcus Epps (groin)
- Jonathan Greenard (Day-to-day ankle injury)
These injuries don’t include the offensive line being without RT Lane Johnson, who retired earlier in the week, and C/G Cam Jurgens,
who was traded to the Ravens. Not to mention RB Tank Bigsby was put on IR to recover from core muscle surgery.
Things continued to spiral out of control in London, pretty early in the game. First, LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr. was ejected for a fight on the opening kickoff, and then injuries continued throughout the matchup, including:
- Will Shipley (foot) – was ruled out
- Jalyx Hunt (ankle/knee) – was ruled out
- Michael Carter III (abdomen) – was ruled out
Jalyx Hunt was seen in a walking boot after the game, and despite being able to return, both RG Tyler Steen (shoulder) and CB Quinyon Mitchell (shoulder) had injury scares that sidelined them briefly.
There are also a handful of players who have been on IR, with some uncertainty about when they’ll be back with the team:
- Landon Dickerson (knee)
- Eli Stowers (hamstring/quad)
- Grant Calcaterra (back)
- Jakorian Bennett (knee)
- Andre’ Sam (foot — ineligible to return this season)
- Johnny Wilson (knee — ineligible to return this season)
Overall, the Eagles have huge depth issues at positions throughout the offense and defense, and things aren’t looking up.
