The NFL season always flies by. It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating Week 1, and now we are nearly halfway through the regular season.
In the last two months, several former Michigan Wolverines
have stepped up for their respective teams. Let’s kick off this Pro Blue recap with a defensive end who had one of the best games of his career.
Mike Danna catches INT, sacks Marcus Mariota on Monday Night Football
It’s always fun to see defensive linemen snag interceptions, and that’s exactly what Mike Danna did in a dominant Kansas City Chiefs win on Monday Night Football. Washington Commanders receiver Deebo Samuel dropped a screen pass, and Danna was right there to catch his first career interception.
That interception wasn’t the only impact Danna had on the game, as he also recorded three tackles and a huge third-down sack in the third quarter.
That was Danna’s first sack of the season. In 78 games across parts of six seasons, he has racked up 179 total tackles, 21.5 sacks, and now an interception.
In that same game, Commanders cornerback Mike Sainristil recorded four tackles.
Roman Wilson catches first NFL TD, Rashan Gary records two sacks on Sunday Night Football
After missing nearly all of last season while recovering from injuries to his ankle and hamstring, Roman Wilson is slowly but surely carving out a role for himself with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In a loss to the Green Bay Packers, Wilson was Pittsburgh’s leading receiver, catching four passes for 74 yards and a fourth-quarter score as the Steelers were attempting to mount a comeback.
On the season, Wilson has eight catches for 110 yards in seven games.
In that same game, Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Rashan Gary racked up two sacks, giving him 7.5 sacks on the season. He has the same amount of sacks through seven games as he had in 17 games last season.
On Pro Football Focus ($), Gary ranks 28th among 118 edge defenders (74.6 grade), and 10th among edge defenders against the run (77.9 grade). To say he’s having a career season next to All-Pro Micah Parsons is an understatement.
