Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, August 21, 2026, 10:10 p.m. ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates are heading out to the West Coast to start their nine-game road trip to close out the month of August. They start with the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-game weekend set.
Bubba Chandler is taking the mound for the Pirates, and he is pitching some of his best stuff all year long. He has won all three of his previous starts in the month of August, including his last appearance on August 14 against the Boston Red Sox. He pitched five innings, giving up four
hits and two earned runs in an 8-4 victory at PNC Park. Now, he’ll have to go up against the Dodgers, who hold a nine-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the NL West standings.
The Dodgers are going with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who just celebrated his 28th birthday earlier this week. The third-year pro from Japan has already matched his win total from the previous season, which was an accomplishment. He made it happen in his last start against the Milwaukee Brewers on August 14. He pitched six innings, gave up four hits, and allowed one earned run in a 3-1 victory at Dodger Stadium.
Location: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, CA
Broadcast: KDKA AM/FM, Sportsnet Pittsburgh
Pitching Matchup: Bubba Chandler (6-8, 4.23 ERA) vs. Yoshinobu Yamamoto (12-7, 2.60 ERA)
