Give a sport a Sunday selection process and there’s sure to be controversy. Leave all the arguments and chaos makers in their national pulpits with their Miami and Notre Dame commentaries and hot takes,
because we have post season MACtion to discuss. And where there’s a game, there’s a line. And where there’s a line, there’s an opportunity. But first, let’s take a look at the game behind the line.
The 2025 Frisco Bowl will be played at the Ford Center at The Star (rather than the bowl’s usual home of Toyota Stadium) while renovations take place. The game kicks off at 8:00 p.m. Central Time (on ESPN) and brings together the UNLV Rebels and the Ohio Bobcats. UNLV enters the bowl on a high note. They finished the season 10–3 overall, 6–2 in Mountain West play, marking their third straight season with nine or more wins and their third consecutive bowl appearance — the first time the program has ever strung together that many winning seasons. This will be their first-ever trip to the Frisco Bowl. Ohio, meanwhile, finished 8–4 overall and 6–2 in the Mid-American Conference. Though they narrowly missed the MAC title — falling short on a tiebreaker — the Bobcats bring a solid season and a history of bowl experience. They’ll be led by interim head coach John Hauser. Beyond just the teams: the setting adds intrigue. Moving the bowl indoors to the Ford Center at The Star brings a unique, controlled environment — no weather worries — in a modern, comfortable facility.
You can find opening odds and current lines for the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl here. At publication, Ohio finds themselves a 3.5-point underdog with a total line of 63.5. Honestly, it’s a coinflip game in my mind. I’m counting on the drama surrounding the Bobcats to galvanize the team, and as a lifelong SEC fan, I still am not convinced that Dan Mullen is actually a good coach. Here’s his chance to prove me wrong. And I know that’s important to him.
Fearless Leader Rapid Reaction Pick: Ohio +3.5, under 63.5
Per usual with Fearless Leader picks, don’t wager what you can’t afford to lose and stay within your means and limits. It’s meant to be fun not make you homeless. Having said that, let’s get rich kids.
