To nobody’s surprise, Texas A&M took quite a tumble in the latest AP Top 25 rankings, falling from No. 9 to No. 23 following a 31-21 home loss to the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.
If we’re being honest, it doesn’t make much sense at this point that A&M is ranked below Mississippi State (who sits one spot behind them), and it makes even
less sense they’re still ranked while Kentucky, who just manhandled the Aggies, remains unranked (though they are listed second in the “also receiving votes” category).
A&M has little time to lick their wounds, as they prepare for their first road game of the season next Saturday in Baton Rouge against LSU. Both teams are ranked, but both are also sitting at 2-1 after suffering their first loss of the season yesterday. There’s a good chance that the loser of that one will not only enter October with a .500 record, but also do so unranked. That game kicks off at 6 p.m. and airs on ABC. The Tigers are currently a 7.5-point favorite.
