Four wins from five constituted a good start to the season for Real Madrid, and Rayo Vallecano would be another routine fixture to help strengthen that record. Yan Diomande gained his first start at the club, joined by Denzel Dumfries and Álvaro Carreras. Arda Güler and Trent Alexander-Arnold continued
to flirt with the bench. Fede Valverde captained Real Madrid.
Rayo began life attacking down the right hand-side, and tested Thibaut Courtois – before Real Madrid had a penalty which was converted by Kylian Mbappé. The Frenchman then linked up with Álvaro Carreras who bagged the second in quick fashion. Jude Bellingham made it three after Vinícius Júnior found him on the edge of the box – before Mbappé hit the post the round off a good first half.
Rayo again started the half in better fashion for the second 45 – as they hit the post from a long-ranged strike, before scoring through the in-form Sergio Camello. Rayo began to chase another goal to make it game on, and came close from another effort from distance. Thibaut was on hand again to parry the shot away. The game was really starting to turn, but Denzel Dumfries had a good chance to kill the threat, forcing an amazing save from a header. Jude Bellingham then had a chance as the game settled down, before Kylian Mbappé scored Madrid’s fourth after being quickly set up by Arda Güler with minutes to spare. Full-time: 4-1 to Real Madrid.
