What is the story about?
The Atlanta Braves have recalled pitcher JR Ritchie from Triple-A Gwinnett and placed starter Reynaldo López on the 15-day injured list with left knee inflammation. López was scratched from last night’s start after hurting himself during pre-game warm-ups.
Ritchie is expected to start today’s game against the Washington Nationals, taking the place
of Martín Peréz who was forced into action as the emergency starter and responded with 6.2 innings of no-hit ball.
As of the time of this post, the results of the MRI on López’s knee is still not known. The severity of the injury could have major implications on the rest of the 2026 season as López has help stabilize the team’s starting rotation after returning from a stint in the bullpen.
