Ahead of Der Klassiker vs. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken addressed the contract situation of center-back Nico Schlotterbeck.
The Germany international has been linked to
Bayern Munich, Liverpool, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid among others, but BVB wants to retain their star on the backline. Ricken said exactly that, but also let it be known that Borussia Dortmund cannot wait around forever.
“It is his absolute right to plan his future carefully. We respect that. And I believe that the focus should not be on salary, but on prospects, trust and conviction,” Ricken told Sport Bild (as captured by Goal). “We will not rush into anything. But of course, we don’t want to drag it out indefinitely, everyone is aware of that.”
Schlotterbeck’s decision will have a massive impact on Dortmund’s future planning. The 25-year-old could be poised for a big raise on the open market, but will have to weigh the extra cash vs. the comfort of remaining with BVB.
Welcome to Bavarian Podcast Works — Edges and Underdogs, a BuLi Action Show!
This is not your run-of-the-mill gambling show as we are putting more focus on the ins-and-outs of the actual match day’s showdowns, rather than an odds-driven format (but yes, you will get the odds as well). This podcast is for people who watch the Bundesliga intently and who want to dive into some of the big games for each match day. Through that, we will also provide some information that could help those seeking to make a wager or two.
Each week, we will highlight three matches to talk through and break down who has the edge, who might be hurting, who is susceptible to being upset, who’s getting hot, and more! This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Edges and Underdogs, a BuLi Action Show:
- Catching up on how we did last week.
- A look at this weekend’s match-ups — including win probability, odds, injury updates, trends, AI predictions, and our predictions as well.
The bottom line…it’s time for some action.
Last matchday record in the Bundesliga: 5-4
