Saturday was a frustrating day for the Yankees, who dropped the middle game of their series with the Mets thanks to some sloppy play. Thankfully mistakes have been few and far between for New York this year, a nice departure from the previous few seasons where their poor fundamentals were taken advantage of, but it felt yesterday’s game feel stand out even more as they fumbled their way to a loss. Whether it was literal errors with Carlos Rodón firing a wild pitch that brought home two runs or missed
opportunities with the bullpen failing to limit the deficit and the offense punting on a bases loaded with no outs gold mine, it wasn’t great. Still, it’s a new day and the series is still up for grabs with today’s rubber match.
We’ll keep it simple leading up to the Sunday matinee: Peter starts us off with the Rivalry Roundup, Nick wishes Carlos May well and tells the tale of his career on his birthday, and Scott gives us some insight on Gerrit Cole’s latest outing down in Scranton. After the game, John will have the weekly social media spotlight.
