TCU football is moving closer to its 2026 season opener against North Carolina in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 29. As the Countdown to Kickoff continues, we’ll highlight a former Horned Frog whose jersey number coincided with the number of days remaining until the opener. At No. 24 is former TCU running back Joseph Turner!
Named TCU’s Offensive MVP in 2007 and an All-Mountain West Conference selection in 2009, Turner amassed 2,094 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns on 432 carries (4.8 yards per carry) over
his four seasons in Fort Worth. From Austin, Texas, Turner played in 47 games for the Horned Frogs. He took over 100 carries in each of his last three seasons and ran for a career-high 754 yards in 2009. He rushed for 11 touchdowns in 2008 and 2009.
Turner ended his TCU career ranked 13th on the school’s all-time rushing list. In 2013, Turner became a coach at Fort Worth North Side. He ascended to the team’s head coaching position two years later and served in that role for nine years until leaving to take the head coaching role at Fort Worth Southwest.
