Another one! The ISU-PSU pipeline is flowing as former Iowa State linebacker Kooper Ebel has announced he will rejoin Matt Campbell at Penn State, becoming the 13th Cyclone to do so.
Like his former-and-once-again-current teammate Caleb Bacon, Ebel is a throwback linebacker. He’s massive for the position, coming in at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds, and he brings with him plenty of experience. He’s been a starter for the Cyclones for the last two seasons, mostly playing the Mike linebacker spot. In 2024, he had 69 tackles and 6 TFLs, and he followed that up with 77 tackles and 8 TFLs in 2025.
Ebel will join Bacon and Tony Rojas to form a linebacker trio that’s extremely experienced. All three will be three-year starters in 2026, giving Linebacker-U some real intrigue heading into the season.
