The Cincinnati Bengals added tremendous talent to their defensive line last offseason.
Two of those players, Boye Mafe and Dexter Lawrence, collaborated on a couple of huge plays against the Tennessee Titans in Week 7.
Mafe spoke to the media about the dynamic of the d-line. “We’re willing and able to play off one another,” he said. “There is no selfishness on this d-line right now. It doesn’t matter who gets the sack, who gets the glory. We do not care about that.”
He talked about how he and Lawrence gave each other a look, and made clear what their respective roles would be on Lawrence’s huge sack late in the fourth quarter that put the Tennessee Titans far out of field goal range.
“If Dex wants to do something, I got his back,” Mafe said. “If I want to do something, Dex has my back.”
Finally, the pass rusher talked about Cincinnati’s prolific offense. “It’s amazing,” Mafe said. “For me, it’s the first time being on a team where you never what’s going to happen… It takes a lot of pressure off us on the defense knowing we can trust our offense to go out there and do what they gotta do.”
