Transfer portal season is in full swing for the Missouri Tigers. Eli Drinkwitz’s team will look a whole lot different in 2026 with plenty of transfers looking to make an immediate impact.
However, roster continuity is still important and developing freshman is a huge key in building
a consistent, successful program. Mizzou has lost plenty of freshman to the transfer portal this offseason, but the coaching staff was still able to retain some key pieces.
Just going by the 2025 recruiting class — Mizzou’s top three highest rated commitments that are still on this roster are wide receiver Donovan Olugbode, quarterback Matt Zollers, and offensive tackle Jack Lange. Who is ready to make the biggest impact next season?
Olugbode had a productive freshman season with 30 receptions for 401 yards and two touchdowns — with a season-high 74 yards coming against Texas A&M. Will he be ready to emerge as Mizzou’s go-to wide receiver next season?
While Mizzou has officially signed Ole Miss transfer quarterback Austin Simmons — that doesn’t exactly guarantee that he will be the starter heading into next season. After an up and down freshman season which resulted in some valuable playing time — does Zollers have the talent and potential to unexpectedly beat out Simmons in preseason camp?
Jack Lange — the top player in the state of Missouri in 2025 didn’t really see any playing time this season — but that’s normal for offensive lineman especially in the SEC. Though, with plenty of turnover at the offensive line position, will Lange be ready to be an important piece of the puzzle next season as a sophomore?
In our latest SBN Reacts survey, we ask you this: Which returning freshman will make the biggest impact for Mizzou next season? Will it be Donovan Olugbode, Matt Zollers, or Jack Lange? Hey … or maybe it’s somebody else. Let us know in the comments!
