Santino Marella had enough of the NXT invaders after the latest dirty deeds at TNA Final Resolution. The Director of Authority arranged a steel cage match to dish out payback. One of the draws for Impact
was finding out who would be on each team. Well, we don’t have wait until Thursday night. TNA announced the squads early.
The TNA team will be Mike Santana, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Steve Maclin, and Matt Cardona.
The NXT team will be Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, Lexis King, Tyson Dupont, Tyriek Igwe, and Brooks Jensen.
The steel cage match goes down on the December 18 episode of Impact.
On the December 11 episode of Impact, Cardona wrestles King to determine who has the man advantage for the steel cage match,
The steel cage match announcement stems from the chaos that closed Final Resolution. After the main event, NXT goons rushed the ring, and King tried to light the TNA logo on fire. To make matters worse, Stacks landed a sucker punch to knock Santino out cold.
The teams make sense based on storylines. The five NXT superstars have been the core of this current invasion angle. Santana was screwed by the NXT posse when they injured his arm and Frankie Kazarian cashed in to win the TNA world title. The Hardys have been in the crosshairs of several NXT scuffles due to holding the TNA tag titles and formerly holding the NXT tag straps. Maclin lost the TNA international belt when Stacks cheated to win gold. Cardona is a glue guy that fits when needed against NXT.
