The Kentucky Wildcats are about to kick off practice in the coming days as Mark Pope and his staff look to make some more noise in their second season in Lexington.
With a whole new set of players on the
roster this year, the question has really become: How good can they really be?
It sounds like they could be as good as advertised.
As the players have returned to campus and workouts have begun once again, we have been getting plenty of different peoples perspective from around the basketball world. Now we can add another national media member to the list of people that has good things to say about this Cats roster.
“One of the big things that jumped out immediately is…man, what a difference a year makes,” J. Kyle Mann of The Ringer said on his Twitter after taking in a practice. “The question I had coming out of that practice (last year) and out of the year was…is there an NBA player out here? I wasn’t sure about that.
“A year later, I come back and I’m watching that. The simplicity of last year’s thing was that I could kind of focus on one or two guys. My attention wasn’t super divided. This year? Holy s#*t.”
You gotta love hearing that.
Mann, a guy who does quite a bit of work around scouting players for NBA mock drafts and such, is also a Kentuckian who loves the Cats just as much as the rest of us. Seeing him take an incredibly positive view is a good thing to see. He also took the time to break down several players and his takeaway of how they all gel together in this video below. Be sure to give it a watch.
Go Cats!
