
Welcome to September. Let’s get right to this week’s Olympic Sports round-up:
Field Hockey (2-0, 0-0)
The Orange opened up their 2025 season with two wins. On Friday, they beat Lock Haven 15-0 behind six goals from Bo van Kempen. Syracuse then came back to beat Fairfield 5-2 on Sunday with van Kempen scoring three. Nine goals in two games is likely to get some Player of the Week recognition.
Women’s Soccer (3-1-2, 0-0-0)
Syracuse tied both Quinnipiac (1-1) and Princeton (0-0) on the road this week. Mia Klammer scored the equalizer against Quinnipiac and Shea Vanderbosch made 10 saves to register a clean sheet at Princeton.
The Orange host Binghamton and Cornell this week.
Men’s Soccer (1-1-1, 0-0-0)
Mac’s crew came away with a 1-1 tie against Penn State with Kelvin Da Costa finding the back of the net for the Orange.
Syracuse will host be on the road at Yale this afternoon and return home to host Duquesne on Friday night
Volleyball (3-0, 0-0)
It was a perfect weekend at home for the Orange as they swept the Salt City Classic taking wins over Niagara, Rider and LeMoyne. Syracuse dropped just one set over the weekend and were led by Tournament MVP Gabby McLaughlin who recorded their 1000th career kill
Cross-Country
Speaking of sweeps, Syracuse swept the team competition at the Harry Lang Invitational. Jayden Harberts won the women’s race with a 17:55 5K. Carmen Luisi (3rd), Ella Masem (5th), Olivia Shattuck (7th) and Sarah Lawson (8th) completed the scoring for the women.
On the men’s side, the Orange took the top 7 places in the 6k race. Asher Danielson was 1st in 18:56 followed by Sam Ricchiuti, Omar Alsaidi, Drew Zundell and Eamon Burke.
Syracuse will be back in action on September 12th for the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State.
