The Miami Dolphins beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17, coming away with a win under rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers for the first time. Although Miami is out of playoff contention and more focused on preparing for the 2026 season than on the results of this year’s games, the win was a good one and showed they have not given up. Now, as they prepare to end the season with a game against the New England Patriots, who have claimed the AFC East division title, how are fans feeling about the direction
of the team?
Fan confidence jumps as season nears end
Our SB Nation Reacts poll has been a roller coaster this year, dropping as low as three percent of the fans feeling positively about the direction of the team, and climbing as high as 65 percent in Week 15 as Miami ran off four straight wins. In Week 16, with Miami coming off a loss, the rate dropped to 44 percent – not as much as may have been expected given the team announced they were benching quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for Ewers.
After another loss, the fan confidence rating dropped to just 18 percent in Week 17, but a win over the Buccaneers has the rating up to 40 percent. How will the Dolphins look against the Patriots today? Will they show up and compete, potentially pulling off a big upset to close out the year and spoil any claims New England might have on the number one seed?
