There have been a lot of reports out there about where John Harbaugh wants to go. Unlike other candidates, it feels like Harbaugh will be interviewing teams more than they are interviewing him. He is probably only going to take two or three interviews. Will the Tennessee Titans be on the list?
Well, Mike Garafalo of the NFL Network thinks they will be. According to Garafalo on X, Harbaugh “likes what he sees in Tennessee, and that he expects them to be firmly in the mix.”
That’s pretty massive. There was a report over the weekend that Harbaugh was watching film on Cam Ward. I guess he liked what he saw on film.
As Garafalo mentioned, there are some other things about this job that are pretty attractive. The Titans have the fourth pick in the draft. That, combined with the fact that the Titans will have close to $100 million in cap space and a new stadium in 2027, makes this job pretty attractive.
Of course, there are some downsides to this job. The biggest is the fact that the roster is pretty terrible. They have big needs all across the roster. Some of that can be fixed with that high pick and all that cap space, but it is going to take some time to add the depth needed to compete.
There is also the ownership issue. Amy Adams Strunk has made a string of terrible decisions over the last few years. You would think she wouldn’t have the same short leash with a coach as established as Harbaugh, but who knows?
We should learn at some point this week where Harbaugh is going to interview. For now, we will just keep our fingers crossed that the Titans are on the list.
