Although legendary Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was traded one year before the franchise selected wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the 2023 NFL Draft, the superstar wideout is clearly still tapped in with some of the signal caller’s iconic NFL moments.
In his Sept. 29 appearance on CBS Sports’ Set, Hut!, hosted by Wilson and Kyle Long, Smith-Njigba was asked what it means to have quarterback Sam Darnold back after a two week absence—and he couldn’t help but sneak in one of Wilson’s
viral taglines.
“For him to be out there, it felt right, it felt comfortable and we’re excited to build together but he’s our guy, we have ultimate trust in him—UNLIMITED trust,” he said while trying to contain laughter.
To no surprise, Wilson couldn’t help but have a good chuckle as well while thinking back to the moment. The iconic tagline stemmed from a 2018 video posted to Twitter from the all-time great quarterback where he talked about his alter ego, “Mr. Unlimited.”
Wilson accumulated 18,407 yards and 147 touchdowns to go alongside Pro Bowl selections in 2018-2021, while also being named a Second-Team All-Pro once across his final four seasons with the team after the viral video was released.
The “unlimited” title has been passed onto Darnold, so only time will tell if he’ll follow in Wilson’s footsteps.
