Bayern Munich has numerous talented youth players in their academies. If the player in question made a good enough impression in training, then he could get named to the substitutes or even get minutes. Javier Fernández is an example, albeit he has yet to feature for Bayern in an official match. He confirmed that the integration of youth players is down to first team coach Vincent Kompany.

– Vincent Kompany really takes an interest in the youth players and challenges them. After the first-team training sessions, he regularly gives the academy players extremely honest feedback and often does extra drills with small groups or individuals – not every coach at this level does that. Furthermore, Bayern’s dominance in the league and the sheer number of matches have created many good opportunities to give young players a chance.”
That is an interesting observation from someone who saw how it happened, and it’s also nice to see him not bothered about not being able to play for the senior team (for reasons beyond his control), even before his injury.
