Lennart Karl is on an astronomical rise in the world of football, noted for his dribbling skills and eye for goals. Although clubs aren’t kicking the tires on the 17-year-old academy product, his current
youth contract contains a tasty looking clause.
According to a report by kicker (as captured by Buli News), Karl’s youth contract has an automatic clause that becomes a professional contract upon his 18th birthday. Club policy indicates a maximum of a three-year deal for underage players; Karl signed his current contract in the summer of this year, set to end in 2028. That clause, however, means his eventual professional contract becomes a multi-year deal and he gets a huge pay rise.
In the absence of Jamal Musiala and as an understudy to Michael Olise, Karl has lit up the pitch with his performances. It gets better because he’s an academy product, sharing the distinction with Aleksandar Pavlović of being a rare example of Bayern’s youth teams producing eventual first-team players. The last such examples were Thomas Müller and David Alaba.
