Jon Rothstein reported the two programs are close to an agreement on a three game series.
Check out the Feed post from the news yesterday, plus our Rock M+ Forums had a good discussion on the Non-Conference schedule thread.
The date is tentatively set for November 6th at Enterprise Arena in St. Louis. Mizzou Football has a home game against Texas the next day, so it could make for a fun weekend!
Frank Cusumano added to Rothstein’s initial report:
A three game series would be good as long as Josh Schertz stays there and keeps the program rolling. As a lightly affiliated SLU fan I like these two teams playing, but more importantly I like these two teams being good.
KenPom’s average rating for SLU since these two teams first started a 3 game series in 1999 is 111. Missouri hasn’t been the beacon of consistency hanging in at 70th over the same time span. Mizzou is on their 6th coach, SLU is on the same number.
During the Cuonzo Martin era, Mizzou offered SLU a three game series with a 2 for 1, two games in COMO and one in St. Louis. SLU turned that offer down. But realistically there hasn’t been a real lust for either program to set up a series, since the coaching turnover and consistency has been lacking. SLU hasn’t been consistently good for a while now, but they look like they’re likely to hit the consistency button with Schertz running things.
There’s only advantages now for both teams. SLU projects as a top 50 level program next season, and Missouri should be as well. That means it’s a Quad 1 game on a neutral court. A loss doesn’t ding anyone’s resume. And the selection committee usually gives credit for playing the game.
I hope we don’t get three games at Enterprise, and we find a way to get these onto campus in the following years. The neutral court is fine for these two as a one off game, but c’mon guys… play a true road game.
With SLU, Marquette, KU, Illinois and the ACC-SEC Challenge already lined up, Mizzou’s non-conference schedule is looking solid.

Mizzou Softball is officially in offseason mode and the transfer portal awaits. True took a look at What Happened this season, what went right, what went wrong, and what’s next?:
Despite missing the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years for the first time since the early 2000s, one thing can be said about the Mizzou team: not only were they knocking on the door at a postseason bid, but they are so young.
Freshman Abby Carr led the team in home runs (12) and RBI (44) along with being a staple reliever in the circle this season. Freshman Sidney Forrester finished second in home runs (10) and finished the season with a perfect fielding percentage. Even freshman Addy Waits, who struggled early in the season, found her way late and became a great leadoff hitter for the Tigers. Waits and Arkansas’ Brinli Bain were the only two freshmen nationally with 40+ walks this season. All these freshmen played major roles on the team’s success and could be awesome options for Mizzou next season. But with the current landscape, who knows if they stay?
Avery Adcock became the first Tiger to declare their intention to enter the transfer portal.
- Track & Field: The SEC Outdoor Championships began yesterday and continue through Saturday, the preview from Sophie Silvers:
Championship season has arrived for Missouri Track & Field. The Tigers travel to Auburn, Ala., this week for the SEC Outdoor Championships, set for Thursday through Saturday, May 14-16. The meet will be held at Hutsell-Rosen Track, where some of the nation’s best athletes will battle for conference titles under the Alabama sun.
After three events, the Women were in 3rd place thanks to Valentina Barrios Bornacelli doing some javelining.
- On ROCK M+ DataMizzou put together the comps for the incoming freshman class:
Part of my offseason process is doing deep dives on individual players to “optimize” the team. With players who have DI experience, that’s somewhat easy, just requires the legwork. For freshman though, it’s not as easy. In most seasons it’s not a big issue since the youngins aren’t expected to do much.
This season? Not the case.
In any event, the process was simple. Cull similarly rated players over the last 3 years, pull their data, average it out and provide a number. This is retroactive instead of predictive, and not any one player is identical to another. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best we can do. Here’s what I’ve come up with…
His data driven info is always interesting, it’s not an exact projection but more just the framework of what to expect. We also talked potential ACC-SEC Matchups.
