The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a thrilling shutout win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The victory moves the Ravens back to .500 and allows them to keep pace in the AFC North.
The defense’s performance against Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase is obviously the highlight. Not only did
they shut Burrow out for the first time in his NFL career; they also outscored the opposing offense on their own. Though the Bengals were missing Tee Higgins, Chase still has a history of destroying the Ravens, sometimes entirely on his own. Cincinnati’s offensive line has also looked better than years past. In other words, this was not a pushover offense like the Ravens’ opponents during their five-game win streak.
The Ravens offense also put forth a solid performance on Sunday, though they did not show up until the second quarter. Some raw numbers (17 points, 29% on third down, just over 20 minutes of possession) aren’t great, but others (7.9 yards per play, 189 rushing yards, 12.5 yards/passing attempt) better show the flow of the game. Baltimore did not sustain multiple long drives, but they were efficient when they were on the field. And, in the second half, they only had the ball twice before running out the clock in the fourth quarter. Considering the weather conditions – which can turn a football into a frozen rock –
So, what do you think? How much did the Ravens’ win over the Bengals move the needle on your confidence in the team’s direction? Let us know in the poll below and add additional thoughts in the comments!
