Welcome to the fourth installment of this series introducing everyone to the class of 2027 prospects UW has offered. Today, we are looking at the TE position.
As a reminder, prospects can fall into four
tiers:
Committed: Just as the name implies, these are prospects that have already committed to other schools and the staff is no longer actively recruiting them.
Tier 1: Would accept their offer no matter when they are ready to commit. Reserved for the prospects at the very top of their board.
Tier 2: Prospects they are actively recruiting and would really like to have. If they were forced to choose between a prospect in tier 1 and 2 they would select tier 1, but tier 2 are very talented players who UW would have a good shot at.
Tier 3: Prospects that UW are not seriously in the running for or they are still evaluating more than actively recruiting.
Committed Tier (0)
Tier 3 (6)
Brock Williams (Libertyville, IL) National Rank: 37 Position Rank: 2
Built more like a big WR than a traditional TE, Williams is a matchup nightmare with a huge catch radius and blazing speed. He is leaning towards some of the top programs in the nation early in his recruitment in Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas.
D’Angelo White (Cleveland, OH) Position Rank: 16
White wakes up every gameday and chooses violence. He plays with a nasty streak while blocking and it is a beautiful sight to see. Ohio State is very much after him and being an Ohio native, that could be very hard to turn down.
Jordan Karhoff (Columbus, OH) Position Rank: 18
Towering over opposing corners and faster than both LBs and safeties, Karhoff is a matchup nightmare. It is still early in his recruitment, but if Ohio State pushes for him it could be very tough for the Columbus native to say no.
Anthony Cartwright (Franklin, MI) Position Rank: 22
It is a little rare to see 6’5 235 Lb. TEs show a strong finesse skillset, but Cartwright is very adept at making defenders miss in open space. Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, and Oregon appear to be standing out early, but I give the early edge to the in state Wolverines.
Jeramie Cooper (Fort Worth, TX) Position Rank: 24
Cooper plays a physical brand of football when blocking, but also has a surplus of speed and has great hands as well. Cooper has pulled in a lot of big time offers including Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss among many others.
Jackson Ballinger (Centerburg, OH) Position Rank: N/A
It isn’t often you see TEs outrun CBs on one play and then throw opposing edges to the ground 1:1, but that is the kind of player that Ballinger is. He has been taking quite a few visits this fall, but none have been west of Texas, let alone out to Seattle.
Tier 2 (2)
Zac Fares (Las Vegas, NV) Position Rank (13)
More developed as a pass catcher at this stage in his development, Fares is as smooth as silk with the way that he gets open and catches the ball. Some schools that are standing out early for him are Ohio State, Texas, and Texas A&M, but other schools out west still have his attention and are swinging away. He did visit UW for the Purdue game, so he still has mutual interest in the Huskies.
Judah Lancaster (Bradenton, FL) Position Rank: 36
Lancaster plays with a suddenness that allows him to excel at the point of attack in blocking as well as running routes down the field. He is extremely athletic and creates mismatches wherever he goes. Lancaster is originally from Arizona, so he has been on the coaches’ radar for awhile now. He has nearly 40 offers to his name already so it may take some time for him to narrow things down.
Tier 1 (2)
Rahzario Edwards (Sacramento, CA) National Rank: 156 Position Rank: 9
It is easy to see that Edwards is a former basketball player with his leaping ability and winning 50/50 balls. At 6’6 he is a huge target that is more developed as a pass catcher than a blocker at this stage in his development. Auburn, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, and UW are some schools standing out early for Edwards.
Zach Albright (Snohomish, WA) Position Rank: 25
Almost as great of an acrobat as he is an athlete, Albright is able to use his size to make some incredibly difficult catches. Albright appears to be at the top or near the very top of coach Paopao’s board. As long as that doesn’t change, odds seem high he will be a Husky.
