The New Orleans Saints will continue their 2026 season on the road Sunday when they take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.
What initially looked like a likely loss on the Saints’ schedule has suddenly become a much more fascinating matchup after Week 1.
After falling behind 21-0 in Detroit, New Orleans battled back to force overtime before ultimately losing 31-30 to the Lions. Despite three turnovers, quarterback Tyler Shough delivered an impressive performance, throwing for 410 yards and three touchdowns,
while wide receiver Chris Olave hauled in 10 passes for 182 yards.
Baltimore, meanwhile, opened its season with an impressive 41-23 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Derrick Henry rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns, Lamar Jackson threw for 324 yards, and the Ravens piled up 506 yards of total offense. Zay Flowers racked up 150 receiving yards before leaving the game with a hamstring injury, making his status something to monitor throughout this week.
That presents another challenge for a Saints defense that struggled early against Detroit before settling in as the game progressed. Slowing down Jackson is difficult enough, but New Orleans will also have to find a way to contain Henry and prevent Baltimore from controlling the game on the ground.
For the Saints, however, Week 1 showed that this offense may be capable of keeping them in games many expected them to lose. Shough showed poise in leading the comeback, Olave looked every bit like a No. 1 receiver, and New Orleans refused to fold after falling behind by three touchdowns.
Now comes another difficult road test.
The Saints may be 0-1, but if what they showed in Detroit was any indication, Sunday’s matchup in Baltimore could be a lot more interesting than it looked when the schedule was first released.
According to FanDuel, the Saints are currently 8.5-point underdogs against the Ravens, with an over/under of 48.5 points. However, those odds could move as kickoff approaches.
