Well, friends, the Tigers survived their series against the Guardians, and while it could have gone a long way to helping change their magic number, it did do that, but probably not the way any of us would have wanted. The Tigers now have to face the Braves and hope they can move their AL Central lead back in the right direction and get a bit closer to clinching their place in the postseason.
While Tarik Skubal didn’t have his best outing of the season against Cleveland yesterday, but he did topple
his personal best in terms of seasonal strikeouts, with at least one start left before the end of the season. He also looked healthy, which was the biggest win of the day yesterday for the Tigers. We’re also still waiting for news on Colt Keith, who exited Thursday’s game early with signs of discomfort after scoring the Tigers’ only run of the game.
We’ll get into Skubal and more below, along with the big news about a very big-name star who will be hanging up the towel this season.
