Recently, it was announced that WR Jordyn Tyson would be out for around 2 months, and for the New Orleans Saints, they have lost their WR2 to start the season. With his injury history, the Saints always knew Tyson’s health could rear its ugly head at some point, but the fact that it was this early hurts even more.
With the Saints not having their WR2, it would not be crazy for them to look outside of the organization for WR options. In the trade market, one name stands out in New England, and that’s
Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte.
Boutte was one of the most important offensive players for the Patriots last year, but after the additions of A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, he has fallen out of favor a bit. This has led to his name being a part of trade rumors, and the Saints could be linked with the former LSU Tiger now. But should they do it?
Although it would be great to add a player like Boutte to this WR room, the Saints should probably avoid making this move.
The overall talent does take a hit because of Tyson’s injury, but the Saints should be good to deal with it for now. Chris Olave as WR1, Devaughn Vele at WR2, and Barion Brown/Bryce Lance in at WR3 is a good enough group to start the season.
Also, if the Saints do trade for Boutte or really any other WR, what happens when Tyson comes back? Brown or Lance’s role would then be heavily diminished. Too much talent is a good problem to have, but it can be a headache. Boutte also needs a new contract, and paying that makes little sense after doing that with Olave.
The Tyson injury is an issue that the Saints must overcome, but unlike other years, they have the pieces on the roster to make that happen as they selected three WRs in the 2026 NFL Draft.
