Manchester United of the Women’s Super League are finalizing a deal to sign Mexican international defender from the Washington Spirit, The Cutback reports.
Bernal was listed on the Spirit’s availability report ahead of this weekend’s matchup against Bay FC, missing the match with an “excused absence.”
Bernal first joined the Spirit ahead of the 2025 NWSL season, signing a three-year deal running through the 2027 season via transfer from Liga MX Femenil side C.F. Monterrey. Bernal has played as a center
back and a defensive midfielder for the 2025 NWSL and 2026 CONCACAF W Champions Cup runner ups.
The Cutback reports that Manchester United are confident that they will be able to secure a deal with the Washington Spirit before the WSL transfer window closes on Thursday.
