We got a jam-packed edition of Pro Blue this week, with several former Michigan Wolverines scoring touchdowns and making big plays. Let’s start with a running back who had the best game of his professional
career.
Blake Corum scores twice, records new single-game high in yards
In a blowout victory over the Arizona Cardinals, Michigan legend Blake Corum had easily the best game of his professional career. The Los Angeles Rams running back racked up 128 yards — a new single-game career-high — and scored two touchdowns in a single game for his first time in the NFL.
Those touchdowns included a two-yard touchdown in the first quarter and a 48-yard score early in the fourth quarter, complete with a stop, drop, and roll celebration, which made sense considering he was on fire. That 48-yarder was the longest of his career.
Corum’s role in the Rams’ offense continues to grow, as he’s had seven carries or more in every game since Week 7. Considering this uptick in usage, if he’s on your fantasy team, you have a good chance of winning it all.
In that same game, Rams linebacker Josiah Stewart had a tackle, and Cardinals cornerback Will Johnson logged three tackles and a pass defensed.
J.J. McCarthy returns to lead Vikings to win
After being cleared from concussion protocol, J.J. McCarthy returned for the Minnesota Vikings. After struggling the past few games, he played well enough to lead the Vikings to a blowout victory over the Washington Commanders.
McCarthy completed 16 of his 23 passes for 163 yards, three scores and zero turnovers. Per Vikings PR, he’s the first quarterback in franchise history aged 22 or younger to throw for three touchdowns since Tommy Kramer in 1977.
McCarthy’s first full season leading the Vikings has had more lows than highs, but hopefully this performance can help move things in the right direction.
In that same game, Vikings safety Josh Metellus was credited with four tackles, and Mike Sainristil racked up six tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass defensed.
Devin Bush snags pick and takes it to the house against Titans
Devin Bush’s career year continued on Sunday. In a loss to the Tennessee Titans, he recorded nine tackles, two passes defensed and a pick-six off Cam Ward.
Based on Pro Football Focus statistics ($), Bush has been one of the best linebackers in professional football this season. His 88.0 defense grade ranks fourth out of 87 qualifying linebackers, behind just San Francisco’s Fred Warner, Jacksonville’s Devin Lloyd and Detroit’s Jack Campbell.
Bush is currently on a one-year, $3.25 million deal with the Browns, but after this season, he has earned a pay increase and a longer contract.
In that same game, Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham recorded three tackles, including one for loss. For the Titans, linebacker Jaylen Harrell was credited with half of a sack, which also counted as a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit.
