On Monday, the Miami Dolphins announced the signing of veteran defensive end Clelin Ferrell — the #4 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. In a corresponding move, the team released defensive lineman Khalil Saunders.
Ferrell was a standout player for four seasons at Clemson — totaling 27 sacks in 45 games played — allowing him to be a top-5 pick for the Las Vegas Raiders upon turning pro. In four seasons with the Raiders, Ferrell amassed 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
He spent the 2024 season with the Washington Commanders, before playing for the Los Angeles Chargers (1 game) and the San Francisco 49ers (8 games) in 2025.
In his entire seven-year career, Ferrell has 21 sacks, 184 combined tackles, 29 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
He joins a Dolphins pass rushing group that includes Chop Robinson, Josh Uche, and David Ojabo, among others.
